The Everett Animal Shelter is able to make most relinquished pets available for adoption.

If you need help determining whether to relinquish your pet, please contact the Everett Animal Shelter. Shelter staff members have a wealth of knowledge and resources, including information on behavioral training and when to seek medical care for your pet.

When you release your pet to the Everett Animal Shelter, the animal becomes the property of the City of Everett. The shelter will try to find the animal a new home but cannot guarantee that, particularly based on the pet’s health or temperament.  Although the shelter often transfers pets to other shelters or rescue groups for adoptions or temporarily houses pets in our foster care program, the shelter must sometimes euthanize animals for various reasons. Previous owners will not be contacted if it becomes necessary to euthanize a former pet.

Fees
Residents of the City of Everett and Unincorporated Snohomish County are asked to pay a $15 rehoming fee to help cover the costs of sheltering their released pet. 

Residents of Lake Stevens, as well as anyone living outside of our contracted service area,  must pay a re-homing fee of $165 at the time the animal is relinquished to the shelter.

Residents of Gold Bar, Marysville, Snohomish, Stanwood, Monroe and Tulalip are not required to pay a fee, but donations are always greatly appreciated to help cover the care required for their pets. 

Aggressive pets
Pets that are aggressive or have bitten will not be made available for adoption. Pets that have bitten within the last 10 days may need to be quarantined for rabies per state law. Please be ready to provide bite victim information if your pet needs to be quarantined. The cost of quarantine sheltering is $10 per day.
