EVERETT – Restoration work on the “quadrangle” above the Hewitt Avenue and Colby Avenue intersection in downtown Everett was postponed last weekend due to high winds. The project will resume Friday, Nov. 8, with contractor crews working around-the-clock to finish painting the structure.
The weekend work schedule has been revised, giving the contractor an additional day to complete the work. Crews will close the intersection from 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, through 7 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, and a containment system will be installed to provide a controlled work environment. Drivers will follow a signed detour during the closure. Pedestrian access will remain open.
Crews expect to complete the restoration work by Tuesday. The city will then reinstall signals, signage and electrical items on the structure. The four-way stop at the intersection will remain in effect until all systems are fully operational.
