Reclaimed Water

Reclaimed water

Reclaimed water is wastewater that has been treated for non-potable (non-drinking) re-use purposes, which includes industrial uses and landscaping irrigation, such as along freeways, on golf courses and in common areas of homeowner associations. Currently we do not use any reclaimed water for landscaping irrigation.

We do supply more than 200,000 gallons a day of reclaimed non-contact cooling water the Kimberly-Clark Corporation on the Everett waterfront which they use to cool machinery.

This re-use project is a joint venture between the cities of Everett, Marysville and the Kimberly-Clark Corporation and has been praised as an "excellent example" of public and private partnership by the Washington Department of Ecology. This project was awarded the Industrial Water Quality Achievement Award by the Water Environment Federation with an. In addition, the partnership was named an "Environmental Innovator," the top Environmental Excellence Award from the Association of Washington Businesses.
