Comprehensive Plan Update

Thanks to all of you who shared your thoughts about Everett’s future and our Comprehensive Plan update by completing our on-line survey and participating in the March 18th interactive workshop. Information collected from the survey and workshop will be used by City staff, the Planning Commission and the City Council to help make important decisions about Everett's future.

What’s your vision for Everett?
For those of you who were not able to attend the March 18th interactive workshop, join the discussion about Everett’s 2015-2035 Comprehensive Plan Update at our second community workshop on Tuesday, April 29 at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at Evergreen Middle School, 7621 Beverly Lane in Everett.

Questions to think about:
• What is your vision for Everett in 2035?
• What improvements are important to you?
• What areas would you like to see grow?
• What features in your neighborhood contribute to the community?

This workshop is specifically focused on what works and what is needed in south Everett. Your ideas are important. Help
guide the future of Everett!

There will be many more opportunities to get involved in the  2015-2035 Comprehensive Plan Update.  If you would like to receive notice of upcoming meetings, please contact Mary Cunningham or Jim Hanson at 425-257-8731 or e-mail to mcunningham@everettwa.gov or jhanson@everettwa.gov.

Background
The City of Everett is required by the Growth Management Act to update our Comprehensive Plan by extending the current planning horizon from 2025 to 2035. Everett is expected to experience significant population and job growth in the next 20 years, adding as many as 61,000 more residents, 30,000 more housing units and up to 45,000 more jobs. How we plan will affect whether or not we can provide the land capacity and necessary public services and facilities to accommodate this much growth.

On December 18th, City Council approved the Audit which identifies the issues to be addressed in the Comprehensive Plan Update, and Public Involvement Plan.
