The City of Everett business and occupation tax (B&O) is based on the gross revenues of your business. This is similar to the taxation method used by the State of Washington. If your business location is outside the city limits of Everett, you are taxed only on revenues earned within the city. If your business location is inside the City, all revenues earned are subject to the B&O tax.
Quarterly tax forms will be mailed automatically. Please complete and return the tax form every quarter even if no taxes are owed. Otherwise, you will receive a delinquent notice with penalties assessed. To close your account, you must return your general business license and submit a written request.
The present tax rate is .00100. This is multiplied times your gross revenues to compute your taxes due. If your revenues are less than $5,000 in any quarter, no tax is due. Please report any revenues earned prior to licensing, if applicable.
If you have any questions concerning the B&O tax, contact the City Clerk’s Office at 425-257-8610. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
