Business license

A City of Everett business license is required for engaging in business within the city limits of Everett.

How do I know if I need a license?
If you live in the City of Everett and are engaging in business within the City of Everett or your business is located outside Everett city limits and you are engaging in business within the City of Everett, you will need to complete a City of Everett business license application and submit it to the City Clerk's Office located at 2930 Wetmore Avenue, Everett. If you live within Everett city limits and are conducting business out of your residence, you will also need to complete the Home Occupation Permit when you submit your business license application.

What does a business license cover?
The City of Everett business license is issued for the express purpose of authorizing you to engage in business, and for taxation. This business license should not be construed as a license to operate a business in violation of the zoning, building or fire codes of the City of Everett. It is the responsibility of the applicant to comply with these codes before conducting business in the City of Everett.

You are advised against investing in equipment or maintaining inventory at your proposed business location until it is determined that your business is a legal use for the property, and that any structure housing the proposed business complies with all applicable codes.

If you have any questions concerning these matters, please contact the following offices:

• Building codes 425-257-8810

• Fire Marshall 425-257-8792

• Zoning codes 425-257-8731
