Violation: Theft

The male victim was playing basketball at a city park.  He put his wallet on the side of the court.  When he finished playing, he left and forgot his wallet.  When he discovered his wallet was missing, he returned to the park and found his wallet where he left if but his driver's license, social security card and ATM/debit cards were missing.  He called his bank to cancel the debit card and was told his card had not been used.

Violation: Warrant Service

An officer responded to a suspicious complaint call.  The reporting party said there was a "crazy man" at the location.  The officer parked his car and walked toward the location.  He observed a person hiding behind a tree.  As the officer rounded the corner, the person disappeared and was attempting to conceal himself by lying in a fetal position at the base of the tree.  The officer called for the suspect to come out, which he did. He was detained in handcuffs.  He told the officer he was hiding under the tree rolling some cigarettes.  It was determined the suspect had an outstanding warrant so he was booked in the county jail.

The female victim told the responding officer that someone broke out a window of her car.  She was gone from her car a short time and the window was broken when she returned.  She left her two small dogs in the car and the dogs had been stolen.  The dogs had been microchipped.  Value of the two dogs and the carrier they were in was $1,000.00.  Cost to repair her window was estimated at $500.00.

The male victim said his ouboard boat motor was taken from his boat.  The professional lock was on the ground near the boat and it had been pried off.  The outboard motor was valued at $3,377.00.

Address: 2200 Block of Highland Avenue
Violation: Criminal Trespass/Theft

The female victim told the responding officer that her shed had been broken into and she was missing some lawn equipment.  The shed was inside her fenced yard but the shed was unlocked and unsecured.  The victim said the missing items had been in the shed the day before.  She said this is the second time her shed had been broken into.  The officer was unable to locate any new signs of forced entry and no signs of tracks nearby.  Value of the missing equipment was $650.00.  The victim was provided with a case number for her insurance and advised to install locks on the door.

Violation: Malicious Mischief

An officer was dispatched on the call of malicious mischief.  The male victim said someone put toilet paper and mustard all over his car and then they threw eggs on it.  This is the second time someone has thrown eggs at his vehicle.  The victim said there is approximately $500.00 in damage to the car from the eggs damaging the paint.

Loss prevention employees observed a male suspect select a number of boxes of baby food, remove the electronic tags and place the boxes into shopping bags.  He then left the store and did not attempt to pay for the items.  He was detained by the store employees.  He admitted to stealing the baby food saying he "Needed to feed his kids".  Value of the recovered items was $263.88.

Violation: Burglary

An officer responded to a call regarding a cold burglary.  The victim said he was inside his detached shop the night before and couldn't remember if he left the door locked or unlocked.  When he returned to the shop the next morning, the door was open.  He found approximately $6,530.00 worth of carpentry tools missing. The officer discussed strategies for preventing further thefts with the victim.

Violation: Assault

The responding officer contacted the female victim who said she had been approached by a female suspect who she recognized.  The suspect normally begs for money.  The victim told the suspect to leave her alone and not to ask her for money.  The suspect got defensive and the victim turned around to walk away.  As she turned, the suspect hit the victim in the face.  A friend separated them and the suspect ran from the location.  The victim had a red mark on her face but declined aid.  A check of the area was conducted to try to locate the suspect but the check was unsuccessful.

Violation: Theft from Vehicle/Vehicle Prowl

The male victim told the responding officer that someone had taken his wallet, key and laptop computer from his vehicle while he was attending classes.  Several hours later, he received a call from his credit card company saying there were unusual charges on his credit card.  He returned to his vehicle and noticed the driver's door was unlocked and his wallet was missing.  The wallet contained other cards with his identity.  Unauthorized charges to his card totaled $494.45 and denied transactions totaled $792.78.

An officer responded to the theft of a purse at a large store.  The female victim said someone stole her purse from her shopping cart.  Loss prevention had surveillance video showing a female reaching into the victim's shopping cart and stealing the purse.  The suspect was recognized from a theft at another business location.  The victim's driver's license, numerous credit cards, medicine, and other items were in the purse.

Violation: Theft

An officer responded to a business on the report of the theft of a $49.99 MP3 player.  The 16 year old suspect had taken the player and concealed it in his pants before walking out of the store.  He was stopped by a loss prevention employee and detained until the police officer arrived.  When asked why he decided to steal the player, the suspect replied, "I was bored".  The suspect was booked into the Denney Youth Center.  His father was contacted and told what had happened with his son.

Several officers responded to an assault call.  Several subjects were contacted and identified.  One officer heard a female identify herself to another officer.  The officer knew she was being dishonest about her identity and warned her that it is a crime to lie about her identity and could be identity theft if she was attempting to use a person's name.  She then gave her real name and said she had some warrants for her arrest.  Two warrants were confirmed so she was taken into custody and booked on her warrants.

Violation: Animal Control Complaint

An officer responded to a complaint about a vicious dog that had attacked the complainant's dog.  The complainant said he had been taking care of an adult pitbull for an acquaintance.  He had been taking care of the dog for several months and the owner had given him money to buy dog food.  He had been attempting to contact the owner to return the dog to her but his efforts had not been successful.  The pitbull had attacked his pet dog and bitten it several times.  He said he had a child in the house and could not keep the pitbull any longer and asked the officer to take the pitbull.  The officer took custody of the dog and transported it to the animal shelter.

An officer contacted the male complainant who said there were two dogs inside a vehicle.  The dogs had been there several days and were no longer responding to him.  The officer observed two large dogs sitting on the seats.  There was no water inside the truck but there was a portion of a bag of dog food on the floor.  The officer located the address of the registered owner and requested a county sheriff contact the owner.  The residence was no longer occupied.  It appeared the owner may have been between homes as the bed of the truck was filled with belongings and a trailer attached to the truck also contained household items.  Additional attempts to locate the owner of the vehicle were unsuccessful.  Officers opened the vehicle and took the dogs into custody.  A note was left for the owner to advise where the dogs had been taken.  The vehicle was locked and the dogs were taken to the animal shelter.

The female complainant said she parked her vehicle in the parking lot of a nightclub.  She locked her vehicle and went inside the building.  She decided to leave her vehicle in the lot over night because she did not want to drive while intoxicated.  When she returned to her vehicle the next day, she realized the driver's door was unlocked.  Her wallet, some clothing, and an air compressor were missing from the car.  She contacted her bank to put a hold on her accounts.  Value of the taken items was $216.00.

An officer responded to a restaurant on a theft complaint.  An employee said there was a table of three males who ordered and consumed $48.00 in food.  The males then ran out of the restaurant without paying for the food.  The employee provided physical descriptions for the three young male suspects.

Violation: Theft from Building

An officer responded on the report of suspicious persons in the area.  The officer spoke to several witnesses who said they observed several male suspects roll tires up to the street while another male stayed in a pickup truck as a look out.  The suspects left after being spotted by the witnesses.  The suspects were unable to steal the tires and no damage was made to the company vehicles or to the building.  An area check for the vehicle was unsuccessful.  Value of the recovered tires was $1,000.00.

Violation: Traffic - No Valid Operator's License Without Identification

An officer obswerved a vehicle with only one operational brake light.  The officer stopped the vehicle and the male driver said he didn't have a license or any identification.  The driver wrote his name for the officer but the officer was unable to locate any record of him using variations of his name and date of birth.  The officer contacted the registered owner of the vehicle who said she knows the driver and gave the officer the driver's name.  A relative responded to the location and took possession of the vehicle.  The driver was transported to the county jail for booking as the officer could not positively identify him.  At the jail, the officer contacted an interpreter who advised the driver that he had the right to an attorney.  During the conversation, it was determined the male was a citizen of Mexico but did not want his consulate notified.  The officer also contacted Immigration and Customs Enforcement who put the suspect under a detainer.

Violation: Theft/Shoplift

A loss prevention officer told the responding EPD officer that he observed a female suspect stuff Halloween treat bags into her purse.  She exited the store without paying for the items.  She was contacted outside the store where she admitted to the theft.  When she was searched by the EPD officer, a pocket knife and wire cutters were found.  She said she stole the bags because she wanted to give each of her children several bags to go trick or treating.  She said she was caught shoplifting about a month ago at another store.  She had money with her and the officer asked why she didn't just pay for the bags but she said she needed the money to pay back to a friend.  She said she was unemployed and had recently been terminated from welfare.  Value of the recovered treat bags was $19.66.  She was trespassed from the store for life.  She was taken to jail as she had no identification and was given a criminal citation.

The female complainant said the top to a clothes dryer had been stolen from a laundry room.  The dryer is coin operatied and she believed the top was taken for the coins.  The wiring was cut and the entire top was taken.  Value of the coins and cost to repair the dryer is estimated at $600.00.

The male victim said he went online to check his bank balance and found a pending transaction for over $900.00 at a business in a neighboring city.  He contacted his bank and cancelled his debit card which had been in his possession.  Someone had attempted to purchase a laptop computer using his account number.  He was given information regarding identity theft.

An officer was dispatched to a church for a theft from a vehicle.  The victim said someone shattered window of her vehicle and stole her purse from the front passenger seat.  The expensive bag contained her wallet with her driver's license, debit and credit cards.  The banks had been notified and none of the cards had been used.  Value of the stolen items was $625.00.

Violation: Found Property/Theft

An officer was dispatched to a found property call.  The female complainant said her husband found a purse under his truck.  She located a driver's license for a female in the purse.  The officer could not find a good phone number for the person on the driver's license so he checked the purse and located several phone numbers.  He made contact with the owner of the purse who said she left her purse in a bowling alley earlier in the day.  The only thing missing appears to be a small amount of cash.  It also appears that there were not any fraudulent transactions made with the credit and ATM cards which were in her purse.  She was advised of the location of the property room and how she could recaim her purse from impound.

Violation: Robbery With A Gun

A male told the desk officer that he was robbed at gun point.  He said he was walking and a car stopped next to him.  A passenger pulled out a gun and pointed it at him and told him to get in the car.  He said he froze in fear.  Two males got out and hit him in the head with their fists and put him in the car.  They drove off with him in the car and said they would kill him if he didn't give them his money.  He said he had $45.00 in cash and they took his cash, identification, watch, necklace, ring, and cell phone.  They dropped him off at a pub.  He said he didn't call 911 when this happened because he was so scared and in shock.

An officer was dispatched to a traffic hazard which was a bumper in the roadway.  The officer located the bumper that had the license plate still attached.  An attempt to locate the registered owner was unsuccessful.  The bumper was impounded in the property room as found property.

The female victim told the responding officer that someone took tools out of her shed in the back yard.  She said the door does not close completely and the door does not lock.  Items taken included electric drills, hand saws, a reciprocating saw, work light, hard hats, and automotive tools.  Value of the stolen tools is approximately $700.00.

The disabled victim uses a scooter for transportation.  While riding earlier in the week, the battery went dead and he left it on the sidewalk.  When he went back three days later, it was gone.  A business had agreed to replace the scooter for him.

The male victim told the responding officer that someone entered his vehicle through an unlocked door and stole his belongings.  The stolen items included a laptop computer, GPS, wallet containing his driver's license, debit cards, and a few other cards.  He contacted his banks and found that one of the debit cards had been used multiple times for a total of $85.90.  He closed his bank accounts.  Value of the stolen items was $1,605.00.

The female victim said she had been shopping and made her purchase with a credit card.  She tried to pay for a purchase the following day and discovered her wallet and cell phone missing from her purse.  She said she went to a restaurant after shopping the previous evening but paid for her meal with cash she had in her pocket.  She believes someone took her wallet and cell phone from her purse while she was shopping that morning.  Value of the stolen/missing items was $250.00.

Violation: Robbery

An officer was dispatched to a silent alarm at a restaurant and the call was later upgraded to a robbery.  The lone employee said a male with a knife ran at him and put the knife against his neck and demanded money.  The suspect ordered the employee to retrieve the money for him, which the employee did.  With money in hand, the suspect leapt over the counter, grabbed a soft drink from the refrigerator and fled out the door.  Approximately $200.00 from the cash box and a $1.95 soda was taken.
